Grantville's 2026–2046 Comprehensive Plan: what was approved and how

The Grantville City Council approved the city’s 2026–2046 Comprehensive Plan at its regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 26, the Newnan Times-Herald reported. The plan sets the city’s long-range direction for the next 20 years.
How the plan was built
According to the Times-Herald:
- The city held public hearings in February and again in September.
- An online survey for residents drew 76 responses.
- A steering committee of residents, city staff, elected officials and city board members met four times to write the plan.
The city’s meetings calendar also lists several steering committee sessions through 2026. Some were held and others were canceled.
The vote
Council member Dee Latimore Berry voted against the plan. “There was not adequate review by the community on this comprehensive plan,” she said, according to the Times-Herald. Council member David Clark was absent. Berry also voted against several other items that night, including a $46,500 auditing contract with CKH CPA, which she said had not been bid out. That contract is tracked in our Fiscal Watch.
What a comprehensive plan does
In Georgia, a city’s comprehensive plan guides decisions on land use, zoning, housing and infrastructure. Rezoning requests are often weighed against it, so it is worth knowing what it says as projects like I-85 South Crossing move ahead.
