Grantville GA and Coweta voters back all 3 Georgia amendments: 2026 results and turnout

By The Grantville Ledger · Nov 4, 2026

Coweta County voters said yes to all three amendments to the Georgia Constitution on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to the county’s unofficial summary report. The closest was Amendment 1, which doubles the acreage that can get a farmland property tax break. It passed in Coweta with 58.38%. The 911 fund in Amendment 3 passed with the widest margin, 78.61%.

The amendments also passed statewide. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported unofficial statewide margins of about 54% to 46% for Amendment 1, 68% to 32% for Amendment 2 and 78% to 22% for Amendment 3.

All results are unofficial until certified. Georgia law requires counties to certify by 5 p.m. on the Monday after the election, which is Nov. 9.

Some voters skipped the amendment questions. The county counted 67,319 ballots in these races but 64,704 to 64,880 votes on each question, so roughly 2,400 to 2,600 voters left each one blank.

The county’s summary report does not break the amendment votes out by precinct, so this story does not report how Grantville’s single precinct voted on them.

What each amendment does

The ballot wording and summaries below come from the Secretary of State’s official amendments booklet.

Amendment 1 (House Resolution 32): farmland and conservation-use property. The amendment raises the maximum land a single owner can enroll for “bona fide conservation use” assessment from 2,000 acres to 4,000. That program taxes qualifying farm and timber land on its current use instead of its full market value. The ballot asked whether to amend the constitution “for the purpose of protecting family farmland.” The AJC reported that supporters said the change would help keep family farms in business. It also reported concerns that the bigger break could cost local governments and schools some property tax revenue.

Amendment 2 (House Resolution 251): nonpartisan probate judges. All probate judges will be elected in nonpartisan races. Probate judges handle wills and estates, guardianships, and marriage and weapons carry licenses. The AJC reported that probate judge was the last judicial office in Georgia still elected by party.

Amendment 3 (House Resolution 1243): Georgia Next Generation 911 Fund. The amendment lets the General Assembly set aside “certain existing revenues” in a fund that can be used only for 911 systems. Money left at the end of a year stays in the fund. CBS News Atlanta reported that the amendment does not create a new tax or fee. The AJC reported that the 911 fee on phone bills will not change right away, and that future laws will decide what money goes into the fund.
