Grantville GA Dollar General at 21 LaGrange St.: produce and grocery offerings, what we can confirm
GRANTVILLE — For many households here, the closest everyday retail stop is Dollar General at 21 Lagrange St. Dollar General’s official Georgia directory lists that address and phone (470) 625-2499. Multiple third-party store listings put daily hours at 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the Ledger could not pull a live hours widget from Dollar General’s own page in this check, so call ahead if you are planning around opening or closing.
What we can confirm about food at this store
- Produce: A MapQuest listing that reprints Dollar General–style store copy for this location says “This location sells Tobacco and Produce.”
- Grocery / dairy categories: Loc8NearMe classifies the store under grocery/discount retail and lists specialties including dairy.
- Fresh or frozen meat at 21 Lagrange St.: The Ledger could not independently confirm from Dollar General’s public Grantville directory page, a Dollar General press release naming this store, or a local news report that this Grantville location has added a dedicated fresh-meat case or completed a labeled DG Market conversion. If you shop there, check the coolers for what is stocked this week — and tip the Ledger at tips@grantvilleledger.com if the company posts a store-specific remodel notice.
Company context (not a Grantville-only announcement)
Nationally, Dollar General has been remodeling rural stores under programs such as Project Renovate and Project Elevate, adding cooler and freezer capacity for a broader mix of fresh and frozen food, according to trade coverage including Prism News and Store Brands / Progressive Grocer. Those reports describe a company-wide push — they do not by themselves prove which upgrades landed in Grantville.
Why it matters here
Grantville does not have a full-size supermarket inside city limits. When the LaGrange Street Dollar General carries more grocery staples — produce and refrigerated items especially — it changes a weekly errand for residents who would otherwise drive to Newnan, Hogansville or beyond. The Ledger will update this story if Dollar General or a reputable local outlet posts a remodel or assortment notice that names this store.
