Construction & logistics

ProjectLocationStageNext step
I-85 South Crossing (logistics warehouse)U.S. 29 South near I-85Under construction: slab pours wrapping up, steel arrivingCompletion targeted for mid-2027 (developer lists June 2027 delivery)

What’s happening

I-85 South Crossing is a roughly 1 million-square-foot cross-dock logistics warehouse by Robinson Weeks, with city utility extensions approved in May 2026. Design-builder ARCO and leasing agent NAI Brannen Goddard have posted construction progress through fall 2026.

Latest developments

Update (Nov. 4–5, 2026): An Oct. 26 ARCO update said slab pours were wrapping up, steel was arriving and tilt-up panels were being formed, with completion targeted for mid-2027. The developer’s page still lists June 2027 delivery. Mayor Richard Proctor has estimated about 700 jobs — his estimate, not a binding commitment.

What it means for residents

More truck traffic on the U.S. 29 / I-85 edge and more demand on utilities the city agreed to extend (developer pays estimated costs up front). Watch council packets for change orders.

Next entries: Hwy 29 / Clarence McCambry Road rezonings and data-center special-use zoning when the city posts them.

Zoning & special uses

What’s happening

514 Bohannon Road — outdoor shooting-range special-use request. Planning Commission recommended denial on Oct. 20. City Council public hearing Monday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Latest developments

Public hearing Nov. 16 on outdoor shooting range at 514 Bohannon Road.

What it means for residents

Council — not the commission — makes the final call. Neighbors citing noise and safety have this hearing to speak.

Roads & city projects

What’s happening

Industrial growth shows up first on the roads: U.S. 29, I-85 Exit 35, Griffin Street, and county roads that feed school and work trips. Coweta’s transportation plan flagged congestion risk and crash clusters on the Grantville–Moreland U.S. 29 stretch.

Latest developments

Griffin Street remains closed to through traffic (Summerhill to Smith) for utility construction; AT&T work near Church Street still flagged. News. City estimated about three months from late July; banners still live Nov. 5.

What it means for residents

Detours push traffic onto LaGrange, Broad and U.S. 29. Expect more construction and later dock traffic on the Exit 35 approach as South Crossing comes online. Ask council which transportation-plan recommendations have funding.
